They were very common here, my first ever phone was a Siemens C25, and some years later Siemens A50 was so cheap, a lot of my friends had that. But I guess these couldn't help the mobile branch of Siemens, it was sold to Benq in 2005. It existed from 1985 to 2005 only.
Yeah, I remember owning one of these, Siemens C65. It was one of the first camera phones:
Maybe the fashion was different based on country, because like I mentioned, in Denmark Nokia was definitely more widespread until the colour screens pre-smart phone era came along.
