Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Can you honestly imagine being that guy? Richest man on Earth, #1, fell face first into it. The power is, well, not something most of us can comprehend. I can try, but can't really put myself in his shoes. Guessing he's like most of us on lemmy, "bright normal", no genius, but smarter than your average bear. If you're here, sought out this place, can read a novel and follow along, you're above average. That's sad in itself as I had always thought that was "normal" intelligence. It ain't.

Now combine that with the fact that given wealth and power (same thing), most all humans begin to believe the rules no longer bind them, because they don't. I forget the psychological term for it, but it's real.

Given Musk's wealth, it would happen to me, you, anyone. I can't hate the guy like I hate Trump. But I got my own, personal, reasons for hating narcissists.

Anyway, "But for the Grace of God go I." Could be you, could be me. Let's all think on that.

I disagree, dude always was a twat. He didn't just happen to fall face first into it, like almost all CEOs he's lied, cheated and stolen his way to the top but unlike most, managed to stay ahead of the legal consequences of his actions.

He's manipulated public image and the media in a grand way in a time when media and opinion has more to do with stock prices than results. Tesla sold less than 5k cybertrucks in the last quarter, their stock price should've imploded but we no longer live in a world where the rich can fail if they have enough followers.

The systems fallen so far behind it stands virtually no chance of closing the Pandora's box social media has created. People, especially the least educated and young need strong protections in place to keep them from latching onto lies and perversions of the truth. Unfortunately getting said system in place would require politicians who didn't want to use social media to gain power.
