For some reason, there is an almost exact duplicate of this sub at lemmy.cafe. Even the community banner image is the same, although the icon is different. All of the posts on this community have been copied, but they are listed as being posted by a user at lemmy.world. These differences lead me to believe that this isn't a federation thing, but a duplicate of the community.

I'm pretty confused by this, and honestly, a little frustrated that someone would seemingly deliberately fracture such a tiny community on the fediverse.

Does anyone have any insight on what might be going on here?

I'm relatively new to the Lemmyverse, so I don't if there are rules or conventions in this decentralized model of communities. But Lemmy is still the internet, you are going to find people (or bots) farming internet points through plagiarism. I think you best bet is reaching out to that user to work something out or just linking your original posted in their cloned posts.
