Shouldn't we have rules or sanctions on coal export to prevent the destruction of the only planet we have? Or are we ok with it as long as someone can make a profit selling it?
Coal is a very large export of Australia, as its very reliant on imports of a lot of goods to sustain itself. It's a game of figuring out a way to get Austalia out of that hole if you want to stop coal from being mined.
Australia's coal exports to China were non-existent from 2020 - Jan 2023 due to an import ban. Most of AU coal now goes to Japan.
China now imports most of its coal from Indonesia and Russia.

Yep.
recession beats pollution: if we all stopped consuming stuff, the world would be better off. lesser gdp is better gdp
Not China, Australia.
China has been getting away with more than Russia has, China should 100% be sanctioned at this point for numerous crimes least of which includes slavery in African countries
vote with ur wallet, dont buy chinese. also what u gonna do? buy american goods made in shale gas (water intensive extracted) powered plants ? or european goods made by russian gas powered plants ? all are the same. or: stop buying stuff and go back to monke (live in a forest)
It's a strategic boon that China can't meet its own energy needs and has to import so much coal. We wouldn't stop them from doing so. Bad for the planet, good for us geopolitically.
But aren't we part of the planet?
Well, it is said women are from Venus and men are from Mars, so…
My guess is environmental preservation is low on the list of reasons why the US would sanction a country.
I meant Australia because they sell the most coal to China.
