I wonder if this takes place outside of the US in a country with a drinking age of 18, or if anon somehow managed to become an alcoholic while not of legal drinking age.
I knew quite a few people in HS with substance abuse problems
Same, but my country's legal drinking age starts at 16 (beer + wine only) ...
Fake IDs are a whole industry in the US. I don't think I personally knew anyone with one, but it was certainly a thing.
Also older siblings or friends.
What's the going price for a fake ID for this purpose in the US?
No clue, but I was curious too, so I found this which says:
"the most common amount people paid for it was between $51-$100."
Dang, that's cheap.
I don't think it's particularly hard to get alcohol underage in most of the US. In New Jersey you can drink underage as long as you're in a "private location" and there's a relative who's at least 21 present.
