Of course they are, they're all Nazis too.

Obligation statement that Nazis are bad and indoctrinated with hate. Not exactly shocking.

Vance is such a question mark in all this. He’s clearly being groomed to be Trump 2.0. He’ll have the full force of billionaires, Silicon Valley, and old media behind him to make him look legitimate. I just don’t know if the Trump people will bite.

The cult is built around the Fuhrer. His probably imminent death is occurring at a difficult time. There is no clear successor. If Trump himself named one a long time ago, it’s probably Ivanka. These days, who knows what he promised. Hegseth who could have prevented 9/11 with him? He’s lost it

Vance is going to make his move, but will MAGA go with him? He doesn’t have Trump’s charisma, not even close. We have a turnkey fascist state in the making that is about to lose its leader. Also interesting to note is that if Vance is disqualified in any way, the Speaker becomes president.

I'm honestly not sure it matters to MAGA. Trump was critical in teaching Republicans a lesson: be ruthless and nasty, the base LOVES it. They love Trump because he's unabashedly horrible to anyone and everyone and he allows them to be hateful too. As long as Vance or anyone seeking the (soon to be literal) throne follows that lesson then the base will follow them.

just thankful stephen miller has the charisma of nosferatu because that guy is dedicated to evil where trump just bumbles from evil to evil guided by his narcissism and donors.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The whole idea of Stephen Miller is awful, but the charisma comment actually made me laugh out loud.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

glad I could give someone a chortle

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

For sure. You also may have offended the noble Nosferatu!

[–] Peer@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The speaker will not become president unless Vance and Trump become incapacitated at the same time. When just Trump becomes incapacitated, they can choose a new vice president.

Watch them choose Charlie Kirk’s wife

I don't see her gaining prominence in the most misogynistic movement in America. She's also such a bad actor she can't even pretend to care about her husband's death convincingly, "Don't forget to buy the 'my husband was murdered' merch on the way out."

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

MAGA is a Cult of Personality, and there is no #2, no matter how much they wish it.

Most of Trump's most devoted followers are not political people, they are just racist haters who saw their chance to indulge it with Trump. Another bunch are the delusional religious freaks who literally think he's the Messiah.

People like that are not going to transfer their devotion to ANYONE else, they will simply opt out of the process, like they generally did before Trump. A few have been indoctrinated, and will remain, but all the fun was with Trump and his crazy comedy routine, so the wind will be out of their sails.

When Trump finally assumes room temperature, the knives are going to come out over there in MAGALand, and the Dems would be wise to just stay out of the way, maybe just a well-placed mumble "Are you going to just take that from him?" Let them tear each other apart, while the Dems lead America down a new path.

The MAGAs will eventually destroy themselves with their virtuosic incompetence, but taking advantage of that is going to take Democratic leadership, which is essentially non-existent right now.

I kind of agree but it's also in their nature for obedience to authority to appeal to Right Wingers. Maybe they won't have the same cult like devotion but I doubt they'll simply "jump ship"

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

I generally agree, but for a lot of them it won't be an instant change. They'll think they are now political followers, and some of them will be. But most will just get bored with politics as usual, even when it's an authoritarian takeover of their nation.

They were into politics because they think Trump is funny and entertaining. Nobody else following him has that charisma. They're going to get bored defending Vance and the rest of the jackals, and either fall away, or worse, start to realize that these guys are evil, and get hostile. Nobody else has the Teflon armor that Trump has.

[–] reptar@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Man, the Vance's of this administration disgust me the most. He's not indoctrinated, or at least he wasn't. He's the quintessential opportunistic asshole.

... Shit, I'm going to say heir apparent

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No, he was groomed for this by Peter Thiel who has a vested interest in out-doing Elon Musk. Why else do you think Musk was so heavily involved? There is a lover's quarrel over who can ruin the US.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If you would have told me in the early 00s that the two assholes who started PayPal were going to be responsible for destroying the republic... Well I guess I probably would have believed you.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I wouldn't have even believed myself. There is no way I could have ever comprehended one or two insecure man-boys would have enough power to even try. Surely all thase older men and 3 letter agencies would put them in their place.

[–] zululove@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

None of that matters. The next “election” will be discredited and lead to a CW. Western states will break off. That’s if ICE doesn’t kill someone in the next 3 years.

New York? Illinois?

Give me some hope man!
