I don't know about current conditions but I remember reading years ago about how VFX companies are in a perpetual cycle where they work their employees to the bone, cut every corner they can, then close up shop once everyone is burned out and quitting. They basically just declare bankruptcy and shut down, then spin up a new company and start over, and repeat. No chance for employees to build up job security, benefits, seniority, etc.
That sounds terrible
