Beehaw has strict rules about the content they allow, and with the huge influx of users (bots or not), current moderation tools aren’t really enough for them to keep up with their own instance plus everyone else’s.

Once mod tools improve to their satisfaction (and my understanding is that they’ve had/are having discussions with other instances and lemmy devs about their needs) they said they’d like to re-federate.

To me, that’s fine. If they don’t want to stress out about this then they can take their time and work with everyone to meet in the middle. Or not. That’s what the fediverse is about - flexibility and trust.
