Trump 2.0: The climate cannot survive another Trump term
(thehill.com)
Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.
As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades:
How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world:
Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:
Anti-science, inactivism, and unsupported conspiracy theories are not ok here.
The satisfaction of... *checks notes* fucking over yourself?
Maybe there are multiple branches of government making decisions and not only the white house cabinet, it's kind of hard for anyone to get legislation through two chambers of congress when you're effectively a minority in both. Which happens when they don't get enough votes.
So yeah. Fucking yourself over.
That's even without mentioning how republican rule makes things even worse. For everyone, but especially women and minorities.
While voting rights are eroding and distribution of power is a problem, do you really think this is what a dictatorship looks like?
I'm not American, nor do I live in the US.
Ah, you're a troll, missed that part, that's on me. Have a good day then I suppose.
Are your state legislators or governor on the ballot? They are the ones that are chipping away at rights.
Then vote against them. We have two parties, fascist trending, and hodgepodge of non fascist trending.
Judging by how you have been commenting literally all night in US time, with a large portion of your posts about how the US sucks, with a 7 hour old account, I wonder if you aren't a foreign Psy op, but I guess it's possible that you're a night shifter. The comment about Biden and abortion doesn't sound like someone who knows about US politics and government. You seem to take issue with voting. High voter turnout usually means Dems win. We know which party certain world leaders prefer...
Given all that and how we literally have an election tomorrow, the evidence just screams Psy Ops. I'm sincerely sorry if I am wrong, but it is like finding someone at a murder scene covered in blood, holding a weapon, that doesn't like the victim, at a time when most people are in bed.
The US has done some terrible things, genecide more than once. I'm not a huge fan of the Democrats either, but right now they are the lesser of the two evils and a pretty broad party. First past the post voting inevitably leads to two parties.
Saying both parties are the same is complete bullshit. Assuming you really just live in Hawaii, you can continue to spread your not voting nonsense and help the party that just elected a speaker that would be just fine forcing everyone to be a Christian and denies humans role in the climate situation. Speaking of that, this is a climate community. Let's not derail discussions with some unrelated political issues.
Sure things suck in a lot of ways. You don't think voting matters, what is your alternative?
Abortion was last due to Trump's THREE SCOTUS picks.
One of the reasons, if not the reason the GOP wins is they show up.
Speaking of Biden, it isn't a presidential election. More than likely you're going to have loads of local offices. These offices decide things like zoning, which makes a big difference for quality of life and the environment.
What's your objective? Are you trying to dissuade people from voting or something? Again, if people actually showed up, the GOP would not hold many offices anywhere.
