Technically, talc absorbs moisture. I think barbers use it more as a "finish". After a very close shave, the skin can be shiny. A thin invisible layer of talc adds a velvety feel to BBS and removes the shine. [ A while back, Amazon decided I should buy some talc, so I did :) ] I use a tiny travel brush to apply the talc.
Welp, I guess that's one more thing for the to-try list ๐
There's some ridicule that may accompany talc. When used properly, others can't see it, however, my wife pointed out that it is akin to baby powder. She is amused that, having dealt with all the diaper changing of twin babies [yes, I have changed a lot of diapers], I'm willing to use "baby powder" again.
I'm also the designated diaper changer of the family, but baby powder isn't a thing (anymore?) here. Not sure whether it's more cultural or a result of the asbestos-in-baby-powder scandals, but pediatricians warn against it.
Interesting how these things emerge. The FDA (American - so there might be trust issues) tested baby powder products multiple times and found no asbestos IIRC. When our kids were in diapers the big concern was zillions of disposable diapers in landfills. Of course that was more than 30 years ago and the half-life of a disposable diaper is about 500 years. [ I'm making that up. Don't really know how long it takes for diaper to degrade. ]

Not anymore in 2021 and 2022. But Johnson & Johnson paid billions in damages for cancer victims who were exposed to asbestos in their baby powder.
I did not know that and looked it up. $2.2 billion in 2021. I have no idea whether we used a baby powder in 1990 that actually used talcum powder, or not. What's done is done at this point.
I looked it up and the Clubman Talc I'm using post-shave has no actual talcum powder in it. (FWIW)
Yeah, no point worrying at this point.
