Hoekstra is kandidaat om naar de Europese Commissie te gaan als commissaris van Klimaat. Hij wil zich de komende tijd op de overstap voorbereiden. Binnenkort is er een hoorzitting in het Europees Parlement over zijn kandidatuur.
