Wondering what the closest thing to a to-do task manager like TickTick would be? I don't necessarily need deep google calendar integration, but a task to-do app that has a similar clean / practical interface, bonus points if cross-platform possibilities like having an iphone app? Thanks!

May I ask why would self-host simple to-do app? I'm just curious.

Joplin has to-do part. Nothing special (far from ticktick) but it can be self-hosted and has iphone app.

Mostly because the best options I've found require a monthly subscription fee that I'd like to avoid if I can find an alternative. Haven't tried Joplin but have looked at it before, I'll look at it more carefully, thanks for the tip.
