BG3 is too buggy in act 3 to win goty

[Spoilers]

Act 3? The game bugged out in act 1 when Shadowheart tried to kill Lae'zel. It straight up didn't show us the cut screen of them fighting, and defaulted to Lae'zel dying when we failed to stop it in a cutscene we didn't get.

The end result being that Lae'zel just didn't interact with the party for a month, and then suddenly drop dead, bloody on the floor after a patch.

All of the best games ever made have been janky as hell. Highly polished games are usually that way because they avoided doing anything interesting and just did things that had been figured out by previous games.

I guess I agree. At the end of the day it’s very subjective and it can all just depends on your luck and patience too (the game crashing 5 times in a row for me was my breaking point). I had no such issues with Alan Wake 2, Hi-Fi Rush, Street Fighter 6 and ToTK, which for me rank above bg3 just because I was never frustrated with those games (just myself when I messed up).

Lower city is fucked. Framedrops are awful.

Aaaaaaaaaa Yep. Its insanely buggy and to their credit the devs are working on the bugs. I find the opposite perspective more compelling: a game worth GOTY in its concept design and execution has launched just as buggy as any other title.
