How about play share? It's been out for years but I doubt many people know of it (or probably use it). A few of my friends were on party chat and talked about it because we thought it was gone, after looking it still exists and we tried it out just to try it. Worked great but it does feel like something that has a very specific need so not many will use it.
Edit: also another one is if you do save screenshots or video from games if you also have the ps app on your phone you can easily access the last 14 days of content so you can download them. I think this is pretty new and only been around a few years now, before that it was still something you could do but required more steps and it only worked with screenshots and not video I think.
I don't really do social media or any of that, and didn't like the share button when it was added (I still can't stand using the touchpad as select), but the ease of getting gameplay onto my phone to share with a friend in respectable quality is definitely really nice.
Remote play is tolerable for games that are forgiving of latency (turn based, some slower combat if you're willing to die a few extra times), but the latency is definitely there regardless of network quality.
I don't know! I'm a pretty antisocial gamer, so whenever I hit share by accident I've been too annoyed by the Dreaded Social Media Button to actually consider it as an option...
At a glance it looks like you can share games for just one hour? That should be enough for most people on most days, but perhaps that's why it never caught on. People are limit-averse. Might try talking a long distance friend into it as an experiment. Thanks!
After the first hour, you can just disengage and start over again.
That's probably fine for most games. I'll give it a whirl sometime soon
