I've never seen him play anything other than a stoic dick. It's almost hard to think of him as a nice guy.
I'm sure many (American) people think Hugh Laurie is like House in real life too 😂
American here, I’m a big fan of Stephen Fry so I knew about him from A Bit of Fry and Laurie. I know I’m an outlier in the statistics.
British people know how sophisticated he really is
I was VERY surprised when I heard his real accent as a kid.
So were the production team of House. They totally thought he was an American and were surprised when he first spoke with them in his natural voice.
