The trick that I've used also works for OCD: Say it to yourself. "The door is locked."
Works pretty well.
Am I remembering yesterdays door locking or today?
Speaking it out loud is a great way to remember many things.
"Keys, wallet, phone" as you get ready.
"Door's locked" as you leave.
"Oven's off"
Etc
The door is locked.
...just you and me. can I take you to a restaurant that's got glass tables? you can watch yourself while you are eating.
