Is this a reference to the song "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" Or is there some other joke I'm missing?

The joke is "Gen z stereotypically finds many things problematic but won't explain why when asked because 'you should already know'" mentality held by many in older generations is being satirized by the Onion.

However I literally just watched sound of music last week and I didn't even make that connection!
