If the public is going to pay them for a product via tax write offs, a condition should be the final product being entered into public domain. It wouldn't be hard to alter the law to allow for protections of individual ip elements while giving up rights to the product itself.

Quite frankly, I think if for any other reason to prove it exists. Is there a Coyote v Acme movie, or did you pay a few actors for a day to shoot a few scenes to pretend there is?
