There's actually a lot more cash in circulation than ever before, and simultaneously, cash is hardly used in consumer transactions. It's thought that most cash minted is used in criminal transactions. The most common note in circulation is the $100 bill.
This is also unfair to say since we increase the population at the same time. I think if we measured cash per person it would be very low.
