In what sense? They are very much a thing in Germany and other parts of Europe, success in stopping cars varies though.

Yeah, most of our cross walks in the US have two lines. Basically making a path to walk within. In Europe and other countries they often have lines in the other direction to walk on, like on that Beatles album (if your old enough to get that reference).

It's like a dotted stop line for cross walks, I think they're generally in the EU but have started making their way to NA.
