I learned a new word today: ossify (to turn into bone, to become hardened and opposed to changes).

Wow. This article really speaks to why I use Lemmy, I promote Fediverse for all its benefits and despite its faults, and am trying to separate myself to a degree from the big players on the internet.

Indeed. It nicely summarises a lot of the concerns I've had since... Web 2.0? and gives us a well-crafted and researched analogy that should inspire and focus new developments. The Fediverse has definitely hit a lot of the right notes for me and I feel enthusatic about the Web for the first time in a while. I've invested quite a bit of time and effort (and money) into the Fediverse and this justifies that and my future endeavours.
