Well, my complaint is he’s actually not doing enough. Last year he approved drilling on the North Slope, so this news is good to hear, but it’s not nearly enough.

Has any politician done enough?

[-] Grimy@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago

Does that mean we shouldn't call them out on it and demand more?

[-] kurwa@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

Exactly, why stop? Otherwise we dip back into the other direction.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee -1 points 7 months ago

It was a question, not a statement. It doesn’t mean anything.

[-] Grimy@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

Its clearly a rhetorical question and therefore a statement. You were saying "no politician does enough" implying it's okay for Biden to do the same.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 7 months ago

Or, it was a rhetorical question saying, “no politician does enough, are you surprised Biden is any different?”

I suppose it’s a glass half full/empty, because you most definitely interpreted it wrong.

Well any politician should actually stop all industrial process, reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero, make abortive care available to all, complete stop intentional, and never pump another gallon of oil.

Anything less is a compromise with industry or global politics. . Or reality

No I agree, it would be unreasonable to stop all industrial processes, but I do think we can forgo drilling in the arctic which is heating 4 times faster than the rest of the Earth, and already facing climate change impacts like the whole… having to relocate entire communities that have been inundated by rising sea levels, loss of protective landfast sea ice, erosion and flooding (Shishmaref, Chefornak, Newtok, Napakiak, Kotlik, Alakanuk, Kwigillingok, Golovin, Tuntutuliak, and Tununak). Because that’s a part of our current reality as well.
