Yep, but I'm willing to bet that the dev negotiated something behind the scenes with Reddit to get extra time. If not, he's probably racking up some serious API costs as Relay is one of the few remaining third-party apps that works without any modifications.

Why would reddit be lenient? Reddit doesn't want 3rd party money. if they did they would have put out decent rates that 3rd party apps could actually support and would have generated revenue from all the apps. Their goal was to kill them all and they will. The number of people willing to pay $10-12/mo for a reddit 3rd party client that doesn't allow NSFW posts is going to be tiny.

Relay currently isn't charging anything so either the devs are footing the API costs or Reddit is giving them an extension. It just seems unlikely that they are just paying Reddit $100k+ a month now for something that probably may not pan out. Like you said, they may not be able to retain many users once they start having to charge $10/month.
