I was speaking figuratively, not within the rules of the game.
And yes, that's all excellent advice. That's how I deal with a lot of ranged enemies, but most of our battles start with me opening a door, getting face-blasted, then closing the door and holding down the wait button. Then as soon as they open the door, they're in melee range where they are easy prey; especially with the sneak attack.
It usually costs just a few turns, but this time it didn't go as planned, and turned out to be a whole comedy of misunderstanding. ๐
