On that topic.. Why do old ladies dye their hair old lady purple? For years I thought each incident of it was just an accident.. Like, maybe old ladies try to add a bit of maroon to their hair and it doesn't play well with the gray, so it comes out purple.. But I no longer think that's the case.
They are using dye to go full silver or light grey, maybe all the hair hasn't grayed or its at different shades. They use a toner to get the last of the darker colors out of the dye but, incorrect toner levels leave behind toner color, usually purple or blue.
Source, I dye my hair many colors for many decades and tried the silver myself.
