Sorry for the stupid question, why the community names are sometimes prefixed with a "!" ?
That's how you link to Communities on Lemmy. Basically the same thing as the "r/" prefix on Reddit.
Because if you leave off the !, your device will try to open those links in email.
You're right. But I wonder why they didn't go the Mastodon route by using a @
That one is used for linking users.
