NonCredibleDefense
A community for your defence shitposting needs
Rules
1. Be nice
Do not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.
2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes
If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.
3. Content must be relevant
Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.
4. No racism / hatespeech
No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.
5. No politics
We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.
6. No seriousposting
We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.
7. No classified material
Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.
8. Source artwork
If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.
9. No low-effort posts
No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.
10. Don't get us banned
No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.
11. No misinformation
NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Ever seen that episode of The Office where Jim gradually fills Dwight's phone handle with nickels, and then removes them all? Then Dwight hits himself in the face when he picks up the phone?
These people would be shooting over the top of anyone's heads. They're not hitting anything.
And how good is your marksmanship with the weights in the way,?
Don't these guns kick up anyway? Wouldn't you need to hold them down?
Well that's kinda my point. Even before you fire, if you weight the barrel like that then when you take it off you will naturally want to aim higher than necessary. By the time you add recoil, you aren't even close anymore.
One would assume this is just temporary resistance training so they can build muscles to keep the rifle in position, not marksmanship practice.
Right? Right??!?!
Or a joke photo being taken seriously.
But that would never happen to NCD.
The whole point of NCD is to take every post seriously. Its funnier that way.
Wait, this isn't a community of genuine defense experts?
Yes, yes it is. The best of the best of the best, sir!
With honors!
As long as this is treated as physical training and not actual marksman training I can see this being very useful. I remember going to the arcade once with those laser guns you hold up, all you can play for however many bucks, fuck my arms were sore.
I mean, just fill two buckets with water and stand holding them with your arms straight out if you want the same training results.
I used to really like the Silent Hill Arcade shooter. It was a fun themed spinoff. That and Time Crisis 3.
Why have them carry a gun or ruck at all, just have them hit the gym. It's not the same. Train like you fight (and a little bit more).

I imagine that arms getting tired might be part of the cost computation for all-you-can-shoot deals, though, so I dunno how well people tromping in the door with those would go over with arcade management.
In this case the payment system stopped working and things were free. They eventually caught on. Their solution for the last hour and half was kick everyone out and you could come back in, all you could play, for whatever dollars.
Hah! Fair enough.
While the weights here are impractical, wouldn't a weighted barrel work really well? If you're forced to engage your muscles against the weight of the barrel you'll most likely be extremely stable.
Heavy guns in general recoil less just due to the mass of the weapon.
There’s a pretty big downside though, in that you are now carrying a much heavier weapon with you at all times.
Maybe, but not weights like these ones. It would probably make recoil more controllable at the cost of making aiming much more difficult. Usually you want to have lightweight parts to make aiming easier, and using your muscles and body to absorb and counteract the recoil.
I don't see how this would make aiming more difficult, besides the weights blocking front sight
making barrel heavier puts center of mass of gun forward
You missed the joke but that's okay. Try aiming without sights
This is stormtrooper level training
Sort of, I'm thinking this is extreme dry fire training to "untrain" the natural reaction to push down on the weapon to counteract recoil.
A common way of doing this with automatic pistols is to place a coin on the end of the slide close to the front sight. With the pistol unloaded, squeeze the trigger till click without dropping the coin.
What it looks like they're doing here would be more punishing than dropping a coin when they instinctively push down.
i would bet that the weighted guns don’t fire
Hold on, you're right, we should consult someone with actual military experience who handles fully automatic long guns professionally. Preferably someone like a front line soldier with excellent marksmanship credentials.
One sec...
Yeah, my wife said this is dumb and you shouldn't do it. You'll just fuck up your barrel. If you want to get good at holding a gun while shooting, hit the range.
It's been a while since I handled an automatic, but depending on the rifle, they do creep up quite a bit when you mag dump. The smaller NATO rounds aren't bad, but something like 7.62x39 from an AK is pretty uncontrollable.
I don't really see the point of loading down your barrel for training, you really don't want to mess with your muscle memory for marksmanship. Even if this was for exercise, it still doesn't make sense, it's not like it's the 1800s and everyone is standing in line formation waiting for a firing order.
Also, you don't need personal experience with automatic weapons to understand the well known phenomenon of barrel creep. Semiautomatic rifles creep upward, hell even musket training from the 1800's advised to aim low at the waist because of it.
When you fire your weapon, does it kick the barrel up or down?
Do those weights pull the barrel up or down?
