I got pretty severe tinnitus after getting in an accident last year and it's by far one of the most frustrating things I've ever experienced. However, what really saddened me after i got it was learning how relatively little research is going into developing treatments despite the overwhelming amount of people who have to deal with it every day. The idea of living with this the rest of my life is extremely depressing.
