hm. Found an ipad in the middle of a normally VERY busy road, undamaged so I must have just come across it as it went flying off someone's roof (it was near a sharp turn) . No neighbouring houses ping a wifi pickup, anyone know how find my works on these things and if it needs a network connection to work?

Failing that, how to get in without wiping? Just wanna get it on the network, I've taken a photo with it with my number and a note saying CALL TO PICK UP YOUR TABLET since it's gonna sync to cloud

send an email to the signed in apple ID address? Or just take it to the police station.

Apple are surprisingly unhelpful with this stuff. I called them about found airpods and they were very "meh" about contacting their own customer.
