I have two, a Micra that I keep in a pocket and a Free P2 that I keep in an EDC kit. The Free P2 was a bit heavy for my pocket and the Micra provides what I need 99% of the time. Still, the Free P2 or similar has some tools where when you need it, you need it.
Most places I've lived you can't just stoat about with a knife. What would you use it for ?
There are some Leatherman tools without blades: https://www.leatherman.com/knifeless
And lots more options if you look at multitools from other companies.
I get that. I'm just curious what you'd use it for. Just a standard day.
Oh, at my last job I used my Leatherman a ton. Wire cutters, screw driver, pliers, etc. I used the blade for opening boxes and stuff too. I don't know that I'd say everyone needs one, but they are pretty handy. I don't usually carry it anymore at my new job since it's pretty different, but I still occasionally find myself reaching for it.
To the OP question, I would say everyone should have a "go bag" with essential stuff you need in an emergency that's already packed and ready to go. A multitool is a great addition to a Go Bag since it can take the place of a lot of tools in a compact way.
Yeah that makes sense. But that's a job tool. I would expect to have the tools required for my job. But an everyday item. I wouldn't need one.
Both replies have been box opening which I've never needed outside of my house which has knives and scissors.
I go bag would be a different story and so I could see a use for it there. I just got given one by work so now I have one in the car
I would have a knife in my house for a box and screwdriver in car. But fair enough. I just never saw a use for it. Good that you use it regularly enough to have one
My Leatherman Wave+ is so important to my EDC. Fantastic tool.
For a lighter suggestion: Gerber armbar drive Has what you need (knife, screwdriver, scissors, etc...) And isn't as bulky as other options.
