I did not expect the match to be so one sided. Alcaraz just blew him out of the water
Yeah. Apart from his game where he could finish the game he played flawlessly. Not sure if djokos knee also didn't help him but even if he was 100% he wouldn't probably have won
I’m sure his knee didn’t help but it seemed to me Djok couldn’t read Alcaraz at all. He usually breaks early or anticipates his opponent. He was reacting (and late) most of the time.
Carlitos is this generations monster, and quite a gentleman too.
Djokovic seemed to be moving OK and didn't overtly seem in pain or flinching etc? Maybe not as fast as he was previously though?
I don't think he was quite at his best though generally, but possibly more as he hadn't been tested much since coming back from injury. The final was his first match against a top 10 seed.
But even when he was playing well he was outclassed. Alcaraz was so incredibly fast! He got to shots that would normally have won Djokovic the point, and Djokovic's strategy of coming to the net didn't work either.
Great match!
Definitely seems like Djokovic had reduced movement; I think that was why he was coming to the net so much this match & the whole tournament really. Seems like he wanted shorter points, but Alcaraz just blasted passing shots, and Djokovic volleys weren't good today.
Alcaraz played so well though I agree, even without the knee I couldn't see Djokovic beating him today.
^without his knee Djokovic would have severely limited movement in one leg^
