Most kids repeat swears to get a reaction.

My wife and I swore like sailors and just told the kiddo which words she shouldn't repeat because they would upset other people, and that saying them at home would make it easier to slip up outside the home. We could do it because we had more practice.

It actually worked until middle school.

What happened at and after middle school? 😅

Other kids started cursing regularly, and it became more socially cool. Same age as when I was a kid.

Same! I feel like the kids also observed/absorbed my behavior in social situations and understood that I behave differently in different situations

edit: I'm also one who laughs his ass off when kids swear. It's so great

The best is when they do it in the appropriate situations too! Like an 8 year old throwing a ball and it bounces unexpectedly into a puddle and they let out a little "Well, shit." in disappointment is the best.

like daddit for the fediverse but we all eat pizza with ranch and say "ope" a lot. all dads and non-dads are welcome. ranch on pizza is recommended but not required. ope is mandatory.
