25th July: went to a midnight screening of Deadpool & Wolverine and it was everything I'd hoped it'd be an more. Any worries are dispelled in the opening scene and it carries on in that exhilarating profane way the whole way through - there"s not a sacred cow they leave unslaughtered (the Indian release must be 5 minutes long). There's so much crammed in and most of it very spoilery but if you were worried about the various reveals and leaks, don't be, that's the obvious stuff anyway and there is so much more - enough Easter eggs to make you diabetic by the time you leave. Some are deep dives that only I seemed to enjoy but most are accessible to anyone who has grown up with the Marvel movies, all of them, because it's also a film about endings as well as, hopefully, new beginnings. The mid-credit scene is a surprisingly tribute to all the Marvel movies that brought us to this point, so the end credit scene has to go hard to counter-balance that, and it does.

It's definitely my favourite of the Deadpool films so far (they keep getting better) and it's straight in as my favourite film of the year. And my favourite character of the so, so many... I want to say Dogpool but, of course it's Peter.

My wife and I saw this film this afternoon. I feel that if I review it, I'll have to review the trailers because there is so much that I don't want to spoil. :-)

It was very tricky saying anything about it.

1st August: went to see it again and it was a blast. The jokes and references come so thick and fast that it is worth seeing again after reading some analysis as you can appreciate everything a bit more and ponder the wider themes.
