To think some software engineer had to write that user prompt...
Probably AI
The person is in offline mode and has attempted to use a feature that requires an online connection. Maybe a puzzle of the day or vs mode or something. The pop up is saying the feature they want isn’t available in offline mode and is just asking if they want to go online. No asshole design, no software gore. Just a message that’s a little misleading out of context.
Though I don’t know this game so that might all be entirely incorrect and it might just be asshole design. Would be a weird way to phrase it though.
I'm not the original poster either, but it's the Microsoft Solitaire Collection and I've seen my aunt play it. I've heard her say that she wasn't able to play it when her Internet connection was down. I'm not sure what mode she wanted to play, but I definitely know that this game is full of ads and has microtransactions and subscriptions. This is Solitaire, remember.
More like asshole design
im pretty sure its intentional
It is, there are constant ads. Fuck Microsoft.
EA does this. You can select go offline on the menu. It will even then show you the games you have that can be played offline.
But God forbid if you restart your computer for whatever reason it changes and requires the online check again.
Reminds me of trying to play a game on steam in the past when my internet connection was down. I couldn't enter offline mode because I wasnt online.
what's wrong? I don't get it...
you changed the game to offline mode but trying to use a feature that requires online connection to work (for some unspecified reason), so thw game wants you to switch back to online mode to continue
