The term "human resources" is kinda unsettling to me, not because of the idea that someone might turn me into gruel but because it sounds so dehumanising. Wood, oil, and iron are resources, and there are mental resources that you can make use of, but metaphorically turning a human into a resource to be used like a tool in order to achieve something sounds wrong. It sounds as if individual humans were dispensable, but I guess many companies see humans just like that.

"Human resources" sounds better than "Meat resources", so I guess that's why they go with it

It's really easy. Who pays for it? They're the ones getting human service.

The only actually possible mediator is the union representative.

My employer's HR company is called CYB, which stands for Cover Your Bases. They're not even trying to pretend it's for the employees' benefit. It's also literally just one lady with a webcam on the other side of the country. So gross.

Lol. At least you can throw all kinds of laws in that direction and hope that they cover their bases. It's a lot worse to be in a place where they wait until the lawsuits before changing practices.
