That's not how you spell "laid off"

[-] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 months ago

Currently contacting at a toothpaste manufacturing site... This is horrifically accurate.

Take the treat, thank the management and still fight for better wages and conditions. Its not either/or and if you think it is you're a fucking idiot. You should ALWAYS be fighting for more.

Or work for a company that doesn’t pollute and kill its customers. This company is owned by Coke and it’s just sugar water with B-whatever added to it to make it “vitamin.”

[-] dactylotheca@suppo.fi 1 points 4 months ago

a company that doesn’t […] kill its customers.

Has Coca Cola started a kick murder squad that I*m not aware of, or did they add polonium to Coke?

[-] PmMeFrogMemes@lemmy.world 41 points 4 months ago

I agree with the sentiment but that is aggravatingly fake

You'll go platinum with that beat

[-] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 6 points 4 months ago

True, but there is platinum in the converter

[-] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 months ago

Yeah, how did management get approval to requisition that off the sales floor? The big box retail store would never be allowed to do something like this. I mean, they were giving out ten cent raises a few months ago.

[-] Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago

Maybe the lower management who barely make anything more than minimum wage bought it out of their own pocket

[-] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 months ago

that is aggravatingly fake

based off?

If you have a bad quarter the bosses roll out office dehydrators

[-] simplejack@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

They actually keep you at your desk and make you pee in vitamin water bottles so you can get more screen time in.

[-] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 7 points 4 months ago

knowing how cheap they are, though, it's just those little silca packs you get in beef jerky

[-] radicalautonomy@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago

It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my ass off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime; so where's the motivation?

[-] Pacmanlives@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

Sales, he should get a fat bonus from that kind of a quarter

Ok. So, I'm pro Union. I've spoken to Teamster Local 25 about coming into my ambulance company.

We can't move forward unless I bring in 3-4 additional employees for a meeting. I do not know the context of that meeting.

I have asked around. Cannot corral 3+ employees to meet with that Union.

I guess that makes it a dead end.

I fully admit to being ignorant to laws surrounding union rules.

So, of course, I find it obscene and ridiculous that unions can't hit the ground running the moment someone rings the bell.

[-] vulture_god@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 months ago

From my understanding, unions require a vote from employees before being able to negotiate contracts with management. So if they want a few more people to come to a meeting, it's probably because they need a sense of whether they're gonna win that election and / or there is interest from more than a single employee.

Getting a union can be a long process, just to get to the bargaining table. Successful campaigns require a tireless dedication from at least one employee who wants to fight.

All worth it IMHO, and I'm heartened to hear about labor action for EMS staff. Best of luck in your efforts!

[-] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

We discussed the process at length. IMO: I'm just a little disappointed that the Union wouldn't be much more aggressive with just a hint of interest. I think they would be much more successful at recruiting than myself. Perhaps the labor laws don't allow it.

[-] PsychedSy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 months ago

Good luck with that, even with a union. Our incentive plan has metrics that executives control. Cash on hand? Profits? Buy a company. Stock goes up, cash and profits neutral, here's your 1% minimum boys.
