Most mentally stable Rolex owner be like

[-] nodsocket@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago

Imagine spending thousands of dollars on a watch

[-] eek2121@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

my smart watch was $799, so not far off?

[-] anarchrist@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 year ago

Yeah but at least the smart watch is also a spy watch...for spying on you ๐Ÿ˜

[-] nodsocket@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Rolex literally just tells time though

You can tell a lot about how this person views the world by how they're utterly convinced that other men will look at their rolex with envy. I kind of pity people stuck in a frame of mind where they think they need flashy, conspicuous consumption to impress people.

For real. Each sentence made me want to throw up in my mouth. This misogyny combined with wealth worship and zero-sum outlook on life is an unforgivable character flaw. What a vapid, worthless existence.

It's pretty funny, as a person that likes watches, this guy is kinda right that a rolex is analogous to what you were obsessed with in highschool.

But he seems to be ignorant of the fact that watches are objects, girls are people, and highschool kids are dumb. It's super cringe to be obsessed with something just because of how you think it will make other people feel.

Imagine basing your personality around a watch

[-] miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml 24 points 1 year ago

What does a 2006 Casio tell about a person, then?

[-] SternburgExport@feddit.de 28 points 1 year ago

Autism

Source: Am autistic, wear nothing but Casios

[-] rynzcycle@kbin.social 15 points 1 year ago

Extremely accurate, just like my Casio.

[-] miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

I would agree, but mine is thrown off by several hours, and letting it set itself doesn't fix it

[-] SternburgExport@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

Casio Waveceptor owners looking at you like

[-] miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I haven't got a single clue why that is. I'd love to fix it. It's a great watch, I've had it since... well 2006

Untrue, sadly

Well, depends on your definition of monster hog, I guess

You have a monster hog in your soul

So that's why I'm so stiff all the time

[-] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 year ago

Before we had smartphones, Casio had a sailing watch that reported the moon phase and local tides, pointed north when I needed it and had a really amazing customizable countdown timer. I couldn't be happier.

Now I have a smartphone.

I don't have a smartwatch but my wife does and likes that it relays her push notices.

[-] G59@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Lmao I swear, women get equated to literally any inanimate object from boats to now watches.

[-] HipsterTenZero@dormi.zone 15 points 1 year ago

"Do you people not have phones" but unironically

[-] funnystuff97@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Hey, I like wearing watches, but that's because I like having the time on my wrist and not have to pull out my phone. And smartwatches can show me my notifications.

But this... is something else.

[-] ichmagrum@feddit.de 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Expensive watches are bracelets for men.

[-] norbert@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

They absolutely are, they're one of the more "acceptable" accessories a guy can really flex with.

Shoes and watches, everyone likes nice shoes/boots and watches.

[-] ichmagrum@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

TBH I think most men's watches look ugly.

[-] norbert@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That's fair, I'm not a fan of big bulky ones (which is most mens watches) but something nice and slim with a good aesthetic and some shiny bits to catch the light can be a really piece of jewelry on the right occasion.

[-] ichmagrum@feddit.de 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

IMO, Rolex watches look ugly. So a Rolex wearer either has questionable taste, or they're only interested in having a status symbol regardless of its inherent qualities. And that's whack as hell.

[-] nodsocket@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Average Rolex enjoyer

Casio >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rolex
