Thats why i jokingly bully people that say they cant do their creative project because they dont have this or that. Just fukin doooo iiit. Just start. If you arent motivated enough to do it on the second setup, you wont finish it anyway.

I can't do my creative project because I'm supposed to be working

[–] germanatlas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 53 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

I can’t do my creative process because I’m not creative

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'd argue you just haven't found your outlet yet.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 15 points 11 months ago (2 children)

For me it's the inlet that's the issue.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 10 points 11 months ago

Try drinking more water

[–] BarrelAgedBoredom@lemm.ee 7 points 11 months ago

Have you considered lube?

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 9 points 11 months ago

Same, and even when I've been thinking about it all day once I'm off I'm too drained most of the time.

I can't do my creative project because executive dysfunction stops me from getting things moving when I try to start

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

Hello me! I have ideas that are so cool though :(

[–] Lux@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 11 months ago

I think that's separate from what the higger comment is talking about. They're saying if you're just making excuses because you don't have the equipment, the equipment won't help. Mental health is a separate issue

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You have to break it down into smaller chunks that you can focus on long enough to complete. What happens if you're so bad that the chunks have to be essentially meaningless? I don't know either, someone please help.

[–] Wilzax@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Yeah but breaking down a task is a task and we all know how that goes

[–] moosetwin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I can't do my creative project because I don't have hands

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 11 months ago

As someone with dysfunctional hands, assuming you're not kidding, speech recognition and eye/head tracking has come a long way. Unless your creative project is detailed art. It hasn't come that far.

ok, but sometimes you end up with aesthetics that are incongruent with your emotional expression, and sometimes end up with a trash tier product.

source : I'm sitting on albums with clipping issues and unintentional distortion, I have a programming project with buggy synth

That might be sad but still much better than not having done it.

Learning from failure > Not learning anything

I am on my 4th solo game dev project right now. I havent finished any of the previous ones, but each attempt was better and more complete than the one before it.

Get it to where each new thing is a tweak. Tweaking is easy and satisfying.

[–] Seraph@fedia.io 65 points 11 months ago

Pretty sure he doesn't own a cat, based on how that monitor was set up.

[–] flicker@lemmy.world 37 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My favorite part of the "before" picture is the 4 mugs.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

You've got your coffee mug, your breakfast cereal mug, your water mug, and finally your lunch cereal mug.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 33 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm guessing he doesn't have a cat. Otherwise the monitor was just begging to get knocked down.

Wouldn't have that salt lamp on his desk if he did

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 25 points 11 months ago

No wonder he can't draw a bed.

[–] Fillicia@sh.itjust.works 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Between this and Markiplier sitting on a kitchen chair to play games, I almost feel bad to spend on a decent office setup and I'm not even a millionaire

[–] dwindling7373@feddit.it 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's the same setup and he just sat down instead of using the standup "mode"?

He has upgraded from a cupboard to a desk, if I'm seeing this right?

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I also have a Wii U... among other consoles

[–] drew_belloc@programming.dev 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's sad but you have to agree that the Wii U was not just lacking behind the competition but also was begging for more games to come out for it, and nowdays the switch have most if not all the games that someone would want a Wii U to play

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I've heard it's a phenomenal emulator

[–] drew_belloc@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah the modding comunity is really transforming it into a nice emulator machine, its almost at the point that i would want one too just to mess around, but i wouldn't say that this validates it as a good console, only for a small niche. It's like the PS Vita, but that one when was alive was still a great place if not one of the best to play indie games, nowdays i want a cheap steam deck like device just for that

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Oh yeah definitely. Not to mention you're always running the risk of Nintendo waking up one day and deciding to fuck it all up (for at least a little while)

[–] NightShot@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

TLDR: Random person gets a desk. Yesh intenet, really ?

[–] nicknonya@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

did you miss the part where the post says "Stardew Valley Creator"? or the before photo showing the comically bad setup?

[–] NightShot@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, but I don't care much for stardew valley nor peoples setup. Its like "- Internet! Random person went to the bathroom - Look how he used to fold the paper before wiping !?!?!?"

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 2 points 11 months ago

Some day he'll get a new jacket too, 😅
