For the longest time I read this instance as "slurpnik" till I saw this community in the instance (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I split "slrpnk" like "slrp-nk" in my head and assumed it was something about beatniks but instead you're slurpin' (slurping what, I didn't know; I left that up to the peeps in the instance), hence I'd read "slurpnik" every time I saw the instance.

After seeing this community in the slurpnik instance I do see now that I've been denigrating y'all this entire time in my mind, and I just wanted to apologize.

Delete this if it's too offensive to be called slurpniks or if it's too off topic, thx!

I've known what it stood for the whole time, but I've always pronounced it slurpnik in my head, because it's just so fun to say. Slurpnik!

Jokes aside, welcome to our little corner of the web. There is some really cool stuff here if you're even remotely interested in environmental crap. We are pretty far left on the spectrum (heck, more like anarchists), even by Lemmy standards, I think, but we are also a pretty chill bunch.
