I like it because there's not many movies that just concentrate on swimming around in the ocean. I genuinely like it when I'm sick or background noise.
Zardoz. 49% at RT. I genuinely love it. It's insane and weird and doesn't make sense and it's wonderful. I even have an original poster framed in my house.
I really like the City of Ember movie, even tho it was a major flop.
I love Ishtar, fuck the haters
Apollo 18. It just has the atmosphere, sense of isolaton and impending doom.
Also Life which is thematically similar, but higher production value.
And in the same vein, Europa Report, though it has critic score of 80. One of the best hard sci-fi films ever.
Almost forgot Pandorum—that one was decent, too.
As was Prometheus (I know biologists and geologists IRL, studied biology myself—the films depiction of these folks is spot on!).
Big Game by Samuel Jackson. I really loved that movie and people barely know it exists.
The internet has ruined ratings for me. I don't even read reviews or ratings before watching something and I make my own opinion of it, usually through the trailer. Everyone is a keyboard warrior these days and everyone thinks they're experts.
Surfer, Dude. - criminally underrated and a great chill movie. Also, "get outside more" is a great theme. I dig it and wish more people did.
