North America's first zero-emission passenger train comes to San Bernardino County

The Zero Emission Multiple Unit train, called ZEMU, is the first of its kind in North America, using hybrid hydrogen and battery technology to power the train.

Electric — Amtrak operates electric locomotives primarily on the Northeast Corridor and the Philadelphia to Harrisburg Main Line. These include the Siemens ACS-64 and the upcoming Avelia Liberty trainsets.

They’re run on the mains though, so aren’t zero-emissions yet.

@markno@mastodon.online It is a bad headline. They probably meant first non-electric train that is zero emissions.
