In several Republican-led states, popular sentiment on the voucher issue has been overridden by the efforts of special interest groups and powerful governors who have enacted sweeping voucher programs that often benefit affluent families.

For those new to this, "school vouchers" is for killing public education.

It's a think tank thing. It has annoying talking points behind it, like "actually, public schools can be bad." They're trying to segregate the 'good people' into well funded education camps and the 'bad people' into ramshackle public schools. And they'll use public tax funds to do it.
