I agree. Back in the day, they made great teasers with footage that was especially shot for that purpose. I wrote a blog post about that kind of thing back in 2015.

These days I find myself turning off any kind of trailer after the first minute as they seem hell bent on laying out the entire film for you.

In my mind Teasers were made before production started, to announce the movie was being made. They didn't have any actually movie clips.

Now it seems, if it's more than 3 months from release, even full trailers, they get called a teaser. That's the only distinction anymore I think.
