  • Brush: Zenith MOAR BOAR
  • Razor: EldrormR Industries MM24
  • Blade: GEM PTFE (1)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Hallows (Glissant)
  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann - Hallows
  • Post Shave: Thayer’s - Original Astringent
  • Osma: Osma - Osma

I hadn’t shaved in about a week so a little irritation was inevitable. But overall this was a really good shave. Hallows is one of my favorite scents of all time, and I was left with a wonderful face-feel from the base. 4.5/5

Things are finally beginning to calm down for me, which is allowing me to ease back into social media, which is nice!

Good to hear, and good to have you back 🍻

Hallows is one of my favorite scents of all time

I have the Omnibus release of Hallows but haven't used it yet. I took a chance and bought the trifecta. Absolutely love the scent. Same reaction I had to Leviathan which is the only soap I've killed in my two year wetshaving career.

[-] merikus@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 1 year ago

I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for it. Bought it at midnight in 2016. It was sold out by 6 AM. Got a scent I loved and the thrill of the limited drop kill all at the same time. I’m pretty sure it’s why I bought everything that came out for two years straight.

Wow! Great story!

A very late shave, and probably as a consequence, a bit rough. I'm not too sure of my judgment, but I found the piggy a bit rougher on the upper lip against the grain than the Parker. To be determined in better circumstances.

Have a good night!

I found the piggy a bit rougher on the upper lip against the grain than the Parker.

Interesting! If you confirm this, that's a good reason for me to look into getting a Shapton 12k. I'll keep an eye out for your comparisons

Not sure that this had anything to do with my honing: the Parker is lighter and hollower - and yesterday, I was tired when shaving.

But let that not be in the way of acquiring a Shapton 12k!

[-] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 1 points 1 year ago

the Parker is lighter and hollower

That should influence smoothness. My Wade and Butcher and Friodur wedges are beautifully smooth

Eleventh Day of TabOKtoberfest - Belgian Travel Edition

  • Brush: Mühle Travel Brush
  • Razor: Dovo 41 Inox
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original Stick
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

First of four travel shaves. Practical considerations have led me to replace the Dogwood Tabak Brush by a collapsible Mühle travel brush and the Stank Tank® by my trusty Stank Stick® but it very much remains a Glorious Stank Trinity® shave. Now off to find a nice breakfast place.

So far, I'm really liking my travel straight.

Stank ++;

[-] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 year ago

I'm on the road at zero dark thirty on Friday morning. I plan to take my stainless Aust. Can't take Tabac cause all I have is the Stank Tank®. I'm thinking NO Monarch, atm.

  • Brush: Stirling 24mm Synthetic
  • Blade: Cien Men 2-Blade Cart (2)
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Cologne Russe - Soap
  • Post Shave: allMan - Fearless - Aftershave

I, too, am traveling. I pack full tub(s) of soap, but use a cartridge.

[-] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 1 year ago

use a cartridge.

Lucky for me i could travel by high speed rail(++), no need to ditch the good razors.

Uh, it's just on the edge. It takes me 6 hours from Lausanne to Brussels by train. If you add up getting to the airport, airport hell, flight, and getting to the city, it's not a big difference timewise, but it's so much more relaxed and comfortable in the train, it's not even close. Plus internet during the entire ride.

[-] merikus@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah. Planes may be quicker technically, but they got nothing on rail for the overall time and experience.

Sadly, in the US our rail system is a joke. The lines are owned by freight companies, who are supposed to yield right of way to passenger rail, but don’t, and the government does nothing.

Getting there several hours late is considered good outside of the northeast; getting there a day or more late isn’t uncommon.

[-] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah. Planes may be quicker technically, but they got nothing on rail for the overall time and experience.

💯

Yeah, luckily most European rail lines are state owned, and at least in Switzerland the freight and passenger networks are redundant.

Years ago I heard about people using the Feather Cartridge Razor while traveling and being happy with it.

I always check bags so I just put a razor I don’t much care about in my checked baggage. Typically a Gillette Tech because I have an Altoids travel container for it.

[-] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 4 points 1 year ago

Checking bags++

After I started wetshaving I started treating carts like DE blades, meaning I found some that work, and realized some don't work. I've had good cart shaves ever since, especially using my new found DE techniques. The price is still high, but it's only when I'm traveling.

Oct 11, 2023 - Witchcrafts Wednesday: Desairology

  • Prep: Klar - Activated Charcoal - Face Soap
  • Brush: Maritime Brush Co Box Puffer 24mm M5C Knot
  • Razor: Mühle Rocca R94
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [1]
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Desairology - Soap (Vegan)
  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Desairology - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)
  • Fragrance: Chatillon Lux - Confluence - Eau de Toilette

Desairology is my gateway scent into artisan soap makers. I recently bought a used tub and new aftershave bottle, so returning to it this morning made for an excellent shave experience. Spooky barbershop or reverent ritual cleansing, either works for me.

Rating: 4.5/5

  • Prep: hot shower
  • Brush: Yaqi 24mm Naples Tuxedo Knot (synthetic)
  • Razor: Gillette Aristocrat (1948-50)
  • Blade: Lord Super Chrome (1)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Hygge
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Hygge balm

OK shave. For some reason this razor+blade combo is not working as well as the last time I tried it.

  • Brush: Wald Stratos Goldvein 29mm A1 Fan
  • Razor: Filarmonica 13 Novodur 13/16" Para Profesionales Full Hollow (Straight Shave 350)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Black Watch - Soap
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Black Watch - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Lavender - Toner
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Black Watch - Eau de Toilette

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

A wonderful Black WatchDay! Yesterday's Tabac scent overwhelmed me, and Black Watch smells different to me after having used milder scent-strength soaps for so long. I'll get over it. Black Watch comes through as spicier and less well balanced than I remember it. Still, it is a terrific scent and I look forward to many more uses of it.

This razor has one of my September Jnat refreshes on it. There's still an Iwasaki finishing technique that I want to experiment with for my Jnat process, but I'm very happy with results I'm getting with my current method. Sharpness and comfort from this razor were exceptional for today's shave.

Now I feel the urge to go smell my Black Watch to verify this outrageous claim, but I have to wait until I'm traveling back on Saturday, 😭😅

As we Americans like to say, "I ain't no expert!". [To anyone with a cultural history longer than 247 years, i.e. not American, we ignore the double negative.]
