Thermal Issue (alien.top)
submitted 11 months ago by snowkittens@alien.top to c/main@selfhosted.forum

Hey y’all, I’m running two Plex servers at the moment, one on an HP ProDesk 600 G1 Mini with an i5-4590T and on an HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini with an i5-8500T. I’ve reapplied thermal paste to both systems, but for whatever reason when I play a 4K file, the EliteDesk heats up to 84C and the fan ramps up within 10 minutes. When I play the same file on the ProDesk, I get some stuttering but the system only heats up to 44C. I haven’t used any of Plex’s premium features, and I’m not using a dedicated GPU. Any thoughts on why the EliteDesk is running hot?

Thanks in advanced!
