Pfft Buckee's is so big you can probably see it at that distance.

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

My brain is sht so my render distance is set to low.

Love Buc-ee's, but it's always so goofy how far off they'll advertise a location. Then, once you pass it by, you'll see a couple more billboards telling you that it's behind you and you can still turn around and go back.

I really have to wonder what their advertising budget is sometimes.

It's probably something like .00001% of their revenue, really. I'm always amazed at how a gas station has people fanboying over it, and is always full.

No kidding. It's a mini Walmart with gas and better bathrooms. I don't need a Walmart when I fill up on gas or take a piss.

South of the Border has been doing this long before Buc-eel’s even existed.

Yup! That one feels like it should be a record for them!

I wonder the same about the advertising budget for different mega law firms like Darryl Isaacs that has proudly on some of their billboards "We've recovered more than $2 billion for our clients." I'm like, "Yeah and then immediately reinvested into buying more billboards."

About halfway between PHX and Tucson?

On I-10 Westbound as I remember

[–] invertedspear@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yup, this is a cross post of my post from the old community. The funny (to me) part is that it’s for the wrong direction. It needs to be for the eastbound traffic.

Not sure when the last time you drove by it was, but they fixed it a little while back.

Epic win for them.

Oh goodie! Only 12 more hours!

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

They have these kinds of signs on the NJ turnpike. I think the closest one is 8 hours away in Kentucky

I was just at the one off of I-10 in Alabama not too far from the FL/AL line yesterday. I splurged on 4 BBQ sammy's, a bag of beaver nuggets, a small meat & cheese tray, a bag of homemade chips, a chocolate pie cup thingee, and a cup of coffee all for the low, low price of $64 smackeroos! That place was craaazy busy...

My wife got a job there, didn't work a day. I have never heard of such a shitty employer in my life. Put it this way, HR spends the entire day on the phone calling applicants and begging them to come in.

[–] Kitathalla@lemy.lol 1 points 4 months ago

It's definitely place-by-place. One of my friends works there, and he shudders at the thought of having to change locations from the one he is at to one 5 miles away, saying there are horror stories. Meanwhile his job preparing sandwiches is more relaxing than a fast food joint.

The only Buc-ees I’ve seen a sign for was also ridiculously far away. I’ve been too Wally’s, which is also a super gas station with a cartoon mascot.
