This is a Dengist community in favor of Bashar al-Assad with no information that can lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton, our fellow liberal and queen. This community is not ironic. We are Marxists-Leninists.

This community is for posts about Marxism and geopolitics (including shitposts to some extent). Serious posts can be posted here or in /c/GenZhou. Reactionary or ultra-leftist cringe posts belong in /c/shitreactionariessay or /c/shitultrassay respectively.

We have a Matrix homeserver and a Matrix space. See this thread for more information. If you believe the server may be down, check the status on status.elara.ws.

Doesn't list business opening and closing hours, which is half my use of Google maps. Other than that, sure. ~~consumer activism is not effective praxis~~

Gulf of how does this make groceries cheaper?

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ha! You thought groceries would get cheaper under Trump? I hope you starve! :smuglord:

[–] trashxeos@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 month ago

Peasant: we should find a way to make produce more affordable

Well troll: yet you keep buying groceries, curious! I am very smart.

This is something a comic book supervillain would do unironically.

But seriously, just imagine the scenario in which China renamed Sea of Japan into the Sea of China and reactions to that.

[–] coolusername@lemmy.ml -4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ehh... They already do that. Taiwan, China. Despite the CPC having absolutely nothing to do with Taiwan.

It's stunning how quickly this change was implemented. Tech companies can just edit a string on some database and rename the planet huh?

Actually Google maps changes itself based on the country it is accessed from.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/02/14/google-maps-political-borders/

So I imagine that it's the Gulf of America when accessed from Burgerstan

Accessing from Europe it says: "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)"

It's like being in India and looking at Kashmir. Google just draws shit for each group so they all stop crying

How come yankee google maps gives Taiwan the bold black text that's reserved for countries? The official US government stance afaik is that it's part of China.

That was a rhetorical question btw

[–] footfaults@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 month ago

It's a good point though. It's all calvinball.

[–] coolusername@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

No it isn't. One China policy means that both sides can think they are China (nobody in Taiwan thinks that btw) and it allows China to save face and leaves Taiwan alone. Any deviation from the Taiwanese gov from what what the KMT ers dere claimed means the CPC goes to war, so they claim.

Too many 19 year olds with too much write access is a sign of the times.

This is what it looks like on my Google maps:

This is super fucked up. I don’t care that it’s in parentheses, the fact that it’s even there is incredibly telling.

[–] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 7 points 1 month ago

it's a bit different here, where's your screenshot taken?

[–] Jonathan12345@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 month ago

apparently in the US it says gulf of america, in Mexico it's gulf of mexico, and everywhere else it's gulf of mexico (gulf of america)
