I went on Immich and all of my photos were gone. Luckily it was just a Redis issue because of a sudden shut down. Regardless I backed everything up to another server.

No point it hoarding what’s important if you can’t keep it safe

Don't trust remote servers with data that you find precious.

Multiple on site backups. The investment might be a little steep at first depending on what or how much you have, but in the long term it's worth it.

Great point! I don't get using them or VPS's.

How is immich by the way?

Been considering trying it out.

I really like it! I use photosync to send all my iphone photos to my server then it displays them really well. It's also really good at detecting what a photo is or who is in it. I have 70k iphone videos and photos and 10kish other photos and video. It handles them without issue!

If I remember correctly, when I tried backing up my phone media via the immich app it resulted in a lower number than was on my phone. Therefore, I will not trust the app over photosync.

Highly recommend! :)
