As a graphic designer, I have seen a LOT of weird stock photos. This was a new one and I didn't expect it. Congratulations?
I know it's a joke and all that. But do people really not get the line? I mean, sometimes it's hard to grasp the lyrics of rap songs, especially when they're rapping so fast and using obscure metaphors and references. But this one is delivered quite calmly and could be taken quite literally.
I definitely get it. But I really wanted to use this stock photo and this was the only idea I had.

Also if the line is not literal, does he simply mean that Jimmy's life is a mess?

Frankly, Jimmy is challenging himself. This will lead to Jimmy learning new things, even if this is embarrassing.

That's what I always thought, but based on what the other guy said there seemed to be a less literal meaning or something
I ate at his spaghetti restaurant in downtown Detroit the other day. It was spaghetti!
