I can see why the TLs said they weren't a fan of this arc with the slightly forced double love rival thing going on. It's a bit tedious when every chapter there's seemingly progress, and then it ends on a "but what about the other girl/guy" vibe.

Same here. Moreover, it's already dragging way too long.
I actually don't mind this arc as much as I thought I would. Is it great? Not really, but it's better than if there was a serious love triangle introduced out of nowhere. Here neither of the protagonists is interested in anyone else, whether it's as a tease, out of confusion or a misunderstanding. It's just a delaying tactic before the plot moves as everyone expects it to.
I can forgive it for giving us so many precious face panels at the very least.
